THE HALLOWEEN NEGATIVE
The 2026 Del Ray Halloween Parade takes over Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria, Virginia on Sunday, October 25 at 2:00 PM, beginning at E. Bellefonte Avenue. Children, pets and decorated strollers are all invited to join one of Del Ray's favorite neighborhood traditions.
Before you head to the parade, stop by for five-minute Halloween costume portraits on 35mm film at the YMCA playground, just down the street. Come dressed and ready to go. I'll make a handful of quick, wonderfully imperfect photographs of your family, and then you can head straight to Mount Vernon Avenue for the parade.
Sessions are available from 12:00–1:45 PM and are $75 per family. You'll receive your best THREE 35mm film photographs plus ONE digital photograph, delivered in a private online gallery.
Your digital photograph will be delivered before Halloween. The film photographs will arrive approximately three weeks later, once the roll has been developed and scanned.
And because this is real film, perfection isn't part of the deal. Expect grain, unexpected colors, a little blur, light leaks or other happy accidents. Film has a personality of its own—which seems especially appropriate when everyone else is pretending to be somebody else.

5. CAN WE BRING OUR DOG?
One digital before Halloween; film approximately three weeks later.
4. WHEN DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
A very slight drizzle won't scare us off. If conditions are dry or there's only a light sprinkle, sessions will go ahead as planned.
Because these photographs are made primarily on real 35mm film, heavier rain is a different story. If rain makes it impractical or unsafe to photograph, I'll make the call the morning of the event and contact everyone who booked.
If I have to cancel the Halloween Mini Sessions because of weather, you'll have your choice of a full refund or a $100 credit toward a future These Days Photography session.
If weather is questionable but sessions are still happening and getting little kids dressed up and out the door just isn't realistic for your family, reach out to me. We'll figure it out.
3. WHAT IF IT RAINS?
I'll do my best to fit you into the remaining schedule, but please arrive on time. If you arrive after the final session ends, photography can't be guaranteed.
